Volunteer Opportunities

Do you possess the passion, but lack the time to contribute to IBJ on a full time basis? IBJ highly values any time individuals may be able to put towards supporting our work – short or long term. Below are some ways you can help from afar. Should you be interested, please contact us via the form below, including your CV, and stating your interests, availability per week/month and foreign language proficiency.

Mentor, Train, Advise or Create a Community of Conscience:
Communities of Conscience (COC) are groups of people who support legal rights worldwide. Public defenders’ offices, bar associations, law schools, and law firms participate in these professional/cultural exchange programs by connecting with their legal counterparts in one of IBJ’s program countries. COCs raise money for legal-aid offices, provide expert assistance, volunteers, and information systems, and collaborate on procedural reform.

Conduct Research:
IBJ is looking for volunteers who are interested in helping our staff and volunteer lawyers to conduct research in areas of law, as well as background research on the human rights conditions of the countries where we work.

Translate:
IBJ needs translators to translate legal treatises, documents and instruction manuals. We are particularly seeking translators with advanced skills in French, Chinese and Spanish.

Develop E-Learning Content:
IBJ is launching an online legal training program that will give lawyers the tools needed to uphold legal rights. We need assistance researching international and country-specific laws. We also need legal experts to help adapt a global curriculum for use in specific countries.

Promote and Publicize for IBJ:
There is an ever-present need for volunteers who are skilled in the communications. Those skilled in HTML code, graphic design, and software programming are encouraged to contact us.
