IBJ has established country programs since 2001 in Cambodia, China and Vietnam, based on lasting partnerships with local institutions, legal aid associations and civil society. The core of our ongoing activities takes place in China , where IBJ has established Defender Resource Centers in Anhui (since 2004) and in Beijing (2005).
In Cambodia, IBJ partners since 2001 with Legal Aid of Cambodia (LAC), and provides training assistance, structural and technical support.
IBJ’s Vietnam program was initiated in 2004 with a first training conference held in Hanoi, in cooperation with the Vietnam Lawyer’s Association, the Hanoi Bar Association and the Ministry of Justice.
IBJ is also providing $5,000 in seed funding to 2008 JusticeMakers Fellows in the Philippines, Nepal, and Pakistan, who are pursuing grassroots legal rights projects to curb torture and legal abuse — thus allowing IBJ to dramatically scale its impact.
