Matthew Coghlan – Managing Director
Matthew Coghlan is a qualified lawyer and development practitioner from Melbourne, Australia. He obtained his LLB from the University of Melbourne, specialising in comparative and international law. Matthew obtained his MA from the Australian National University, majoring in South East Asian comparative politics, foreign policy and political economy. He practised commercial litigation/dispute resolution in Australia for 5 years, running trade remedies cases and providing WTO law advice to East Asian governments and businesses for 3 years with Freehills in Canberra and Sydney, Australia. Since 2004, Matthew has lived in South East Asia and worked for NGOs and donors. He was Oxfam America’s Regional Trade Policy Officer for 3 years, living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and building national civil society research/advocacy capacity and managing Oxfam International’s trade campaign in South East Asia. Matthew has consulted extensively for NGOs and donors in the region on access to! justice, good governance and human rights.
