IBJ Francophonie Africa Prevention of Torture JusticeMakers Competition 2017
The JusticeMakers Program is searching for human rights defenders with innovative strategies to promote criminal justice at national and local levels. Having local human rights advocates run projects on the ground has been a truly effective method of reaching out and supporting those in need. Applicants are required to submit a detailed proposal of their idea. Those with the most innovative, sustainable, and efficient projects will receive a $5,000 Fellowship to implement their work as well as support from the IBJ global network.
This year, with the support of Global Affairs Canada, IBJ is reaching out to lawyers, human rights defenders, justice and law enforcement officials for proposals with innovative strategies to promote criminal justice in Francophonie Africa.* From Burundi and Senegal, to Morocco, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Francophonie Africa has vast potential to make rapid advances in the realm of access to justice. Through the JusticeMakers Competition, IBJ will give 10 innovative individuals in the region the opportunity to make changes in their local criminal justice system.
Applications are due on March 31, 2017. EARLY applicants who submit their proposal before January 31, 2017, will receive feedback from IBJ and the opportunity to finalize their proposal with the feedback taken into account.
