Today IBJ would like to highlight the efforts of one of our 2008 JusticeMakers competition finalists, Bandita Thapa. We recently heard that she was featured on the international radio program World in Progress. World in Progress is a program that focuses on issues of human rights, poverty alleviation, economic development, education and globalization. They frequently interview individuals who, like Bandita Thapa, are committed to making a difference in the world. The program is hosted by Germany’s international broadcaster, DW Radio.

Bandita is the founder and director of the Women’s Foundation of Nepal, an organization that is fighting for gender-based equality and human rights for women and children. Bandita’s project proposal for the 2008 JusticeMakers fellowship competition highlighted the importance of securing legal rights for women and children, who are subject to discrimination in the legal system.
