Quote

“I love helping others, and I believe it’s our duty to stand by humanitarian cases and offer support to anyone in need, especially those unable to handle their own affairs.”

About Bushra

Bushra Kanjo Kaakeh is a defense lawyer licensed at Aleppo Bar Association. She has more than 5 years of experience across criminal, Sharia, commercial, and civil law. She is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals can assert their rights and be able to defend themselves. Her commitment is driven by a sense of duty to support vulnerable individuals.

The Challenge

Ms Kaakeh finds that incidents of police misconduct, including arbitrary detention, physical assault, and torture during arrest and/or interrogation, undermine the trust in the criminal legal system.

The Innovation: Dawn of Justice

Ms Kaakeh seeks to address this challenge in Aleppo by focusing on raising awareness among citizens of their legal rights and providing training to empower them to demand proper legal representation. The project aims to offer legal seminars to diverse groups, including teachers, lawyers, judges, doctors, and homemakers, to ensure inclusive participation and gender equality. By educating the public, the project aims to strengthen legal awareness for men, women, and children.
