About Nour

Nour Rakbi is a defense lawyer whose commitment to human rights work comes from a desire to help individuals who face legal challenges without the knowledge or support needed to defend themselves. Ms Rakbi has previous experience in project work and has taken on leadership roles. She continues to strengthen her legal skills by taking courses with IBJ. Outside her professional activities, her interests include reading and playing sports.

The Challenge

Ms. Rakbi finds that there is a lack of cooperation among actors in the legal sector, including judges, police, prosecutors, prison officials and others. This creates an ineffective justice system that takes a long time to respond to violations, leading to mistrust in the community regarding legal processes.

The Innovation: Access to Community Justice

Ms. Rakbi’s project aims to improve legal awareness support in Aleppo and the countryside, with a focus on vulnerable groups such as women and children. The initiative centers on providing early legal representation and spreading legal awareness among citizens. By explaining the legal rules and principles, the project helps individuals understand better their rights and the legal procedures they may face. This approach increases people’s legal knowledge and strengthens the ability of community members to navigate the justice system.
