Innocent Maja – Fellow and Country Manager

Innocent is the Senior Partner of a Zimbabwean law firm styled Maja and Associates Legal Practitioners. He is also an IBJ Fellow for Zimbabwe, the Executive Director of Centre for Minority Rights and Development Zimbabwe, a Legal Director of the Anti-Piracy Organisation of Zimbabwe and sits on various Boards as a Trustee including Centre for Human Rights and Development Swaziland, Domboshawa Theological College Trust, Glory Givers International, The Mozambican Community in Zimbabwe Trust and Shiloah Zimbabwe Trust. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Honors Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master of Laws in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the University of Pretoria and is currently pursuing an LLD. He is also a Lecturer in the Private Law Department with the University of Zimbabwe’s Faculty of Law.


John Burombo – Legal Fellow

John is a young Zimbabwean lawyer with an expertise in criminal law, with a backlog of experience ranging from legal drafting to full client representation. He received his Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Fort Hare in the Republic of South Africa, and also holds various certificates in legal drafting, intellectual property law, media law and competition law. Under the leadership of IBJ Fellow and Country Manager, Innocent Maja, John will build on his experience in criminal defense to provide effective and timely legal representation to disempowered indigents in vindication of their legal rights.


Pamela Yeukai Chiwara – Legal Fellow

Pamela Y. Chiwara holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB (Hons.)) with the University of Zimbabwe. She has in depth knowledge of family law, conveyancing and human rights law. She has a passion to assist the indigent populace and to leave an indelible mark in the legal profession through rights awareness. Pamela has also consulted for an organization called Vision Africa Youth Programme, which deals with the underprivileged youths of Zimbabwe and Africa as well as identifying their talent. Currently she is an in country fellow of International Bridges to Justice in Zimbabwe.


Florence Chatira – Project Administrator

A Project Administrator for IBJ in Zimbabwe, Florence holds a Certificate in Reception Management, Diploma in Business Administration, and is currently in her first year studying for a Bsc. in Management and Entrepreneurial Development Studies. She has an extensive background in English languages and prior to joining IBJ she worked as a marketing executive for a small Zimbabwean company as well as a Sales and Creditors Clerk prior to that. As the project administrator, Florence will develop efficient working structures to facilitate the coordination of the fellows’ work and provide the on-the-ground administrative support needed.
