JusticeMakers promotes the rule of law in communities around the world by encouraging people to document their ideas on how to curb legal abuse on a local level. In joining the JusticeMakers movement, you’re connecting the passionate people you know with their counterparts around the world.

There are many ways you can help:

Enabling Local Support

Overcoming Technical and Language Barriers: In our effort to bring JusticeMakers to a broader audience, we face several challenges in reaching the individuals who might benefit from this opportunity. Those with the greatest potential to affect change are often those least likely to have internet access, speak English, or describe the scale of the challenges they face quantitatively.

As a partner, you can help overcome technical barriers by providing potential applicants with computer and internt access, as well providing technological support. You can also assist in translating participants’ applications from their local dialects into English.

Promote the Competition

Offline: There are a number of ways you can help increase the competition’s visibility in your local community, such as radio broadcasts, enlisting the support of other NGOs and legal actors, and the distribution of flyers, brochures and posters. The JusticeMakers team can work with you to create these devices such that the messaging and imagery is appropriate for your community.

Online: In addition to promoting efforts on the ground, you can support JusticeMakers with online promotion. There are various means at your disposal, such as embedding JusticeMakers banners and videos on your website, posting articles and blogs, and sending announcements to your constituents and partners.

Nominate your own JusticeMaker: On the JusticeMakers website, you can nominate your own JusticeMaker by sending an encouraging invitation to someone you believe has a innovative idea.

Mentor a JusticeMaker

Support: JusticeMakers come up with incredible ideas to overcome the flaws of their justice system but are sometimes unaware of the organizational skills that are required to articulate and implement their projects. Because innovation needs strategic planning and effective management structures, you have the unique opportunity to share your project management and legal skills with a JusticeMaker, and provide much needed constructive criticism and support for his or her project.

Implementation: In the event that a JusticeMaker you have mentored wins the competition, you can continue your support by aiding him in the implementation of his proposal. You can assist the start-up of a project by helping to secure staff, providing equipment, building partnerships with local authorities and refining their project when necessary.

Drive the Human Rights Discussion

JusticeMakers is initiating a global conversation to generate solutions to human rights and criminal justice challenges. As a partner, you can help facilitate provocative discussions in this area, sharing valuable insight and commentary that will spark further dialogue among criminal defenders and human rights advocates.
